Issue #009 - August Newsletter with new interview and updates
August 28, 2007
Greetings from Maine

Hello,

Summer's end is fast approaching. Fall is right around the corner and things are getting busy at Worcester Wreath and Wreaths Across America HQ. This month we have a big announcement, a request (don't we always - ha!) and a special treat for you - a first look at an interview with Robert Coles, a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. This interview brings special attention to the last of the three part mission to Remember; Honor; & Teach. Hope you will share your thoughts and suggestions for other similar content we can work into the Wreaths Across America website. Enjoy!

New Video! Morrill Worcester
interviews Robert Coles

Why Teach? Very rarely does anyone question the mission to remember and honor our servicemen and women who have sacrificed to protect our freedoms. But the third part of the Remember; Honor; & Teach mission is not always so clear.

Well, we were fortunate to sit down recently with Robert Coles, an amazing and charming gentleman from the Downeast area who amid his recount of the attack on Pearl Harbor, captured the essence of the "Why Teach" mission better than ever before.

We hope you will enjoy the uniqueness of this spry 84-year-olds experiences, his wisdom, and his willingness to share. After watching the interview, it will not be surprising to note that Mr. Coles continues to be active, both physically by mowing lawns and active in the community with speaking engagements.

If you are not able to watch the embedded video below, just visit WreathsAcrossAmerica.org/video to see any of videos on the site.

Help Us Build Our Newsletter

Do you have friends or family who might also be interested in receiving a copy of this Newsletter? How about ideas or suggestions that might be included in future editions of the Wreaths Across America Newsletter?

We will continue to share latest news and announcements, but we would also like to share some of the amazing human interest stories that are shared at any of the events. This month we shared the interview with Robert Coles, and let me tell you - that was just a taste of the wonderful morning we spent together.

We know there are a lot more voices, that feel the way we do about the sacrifices, by servicemen and women, and their families, to protect out freedoms. We are working to open up new areas of the website so YOU can share your story and sentiments. Each month we will share some of the best thru the Newsletter.

Just email us with your suggestions. We can't share them all, but we already are building a list for inclusion and we would love to hear more.

From snowbanks of Alaska
to the sands of Iraq

In 2006 we had coordinated wreath-laying events at 218 locations, from Alaska where they had to plow their way into the cemetery - to this small ceremony at Camp Al Quaddam in Iraq.

In 2007 we will be doing even more locations, with more donated wreaths than ever before. If you or someone you know would like to sponsor a wreath, please share the link below:

That's it for this month. Hope everyone has enjoyed the summer months. It won't be long until Fall, school, and the holiday season will be here. Home for the Holidays. While the summer sun shines, that is the refrain that keeps everyone motivated - to remember, honor, and teach about the cost of our freedoms. Thank you for your continued support.
