Post 50 SAL 50 Presentation Honoring Vietnam Veterans at Shea Stadium Sept. 16th 2007
American Legion Post 50 and Sons of the American Legion Post 50 will participate in “Wreaths Across America” by placing a wreath and conducting a ceremony at Pelham’s Veterans Park on Saturday Dec. 15th 2007 at 12 Noon. The Veterans Park is located on Fifth Avenue by the Town Hall. Pelham is just north of New York City in Westchester County.
This year we visited Arlington National Cemetery on a cold March day and the graves of two of our soldiers, Eli Page Howard Sr. and Jr. The father was a WWI soldier, the son a Lt. Col who was killed in battle in Vietnam. We also discovered we have a sailor at Arlington, Jason Ard Lodwick who was killed when a kamikaze plane hit the bridge of his destroyer off of Iwo Jima. It is a wonderful action that you are decorating graves there.
Our American Legion Post visited and placed wreaths at the American Battle Monument Commission Cemeteries at Nettuno and Florence Italy two years ago. We will remember the Americans Missing in Action and interred overseas.
